 A Players view on Mods
Just some quick thoughts on mods before I leave.
I remember when I first decided to get mods for Oblivion. I was overwhelmed by what was available even then and how to do things. I looked for Mods tht had good descriptions, gave me choices and do not require me to jump around downloading various files. The simpler the better. I didn't even kinow how to install mod so needed help with that.
The only large mod I installed was Franciscos creatures and items, a large mod for its time. I did love the items, some of them, that he included, still do.
My personal preference for an overhaul mod is still one that gives me choices. If it tries to do everything without letting me choose what I want or appears to overwrite things and looks as if it may be hard to uninstall I pass it by.
I use OBSE if necessary and have had no problem with it. I still am not comfortable with OBMM. Sometimes I can get it to work and sometimes I can't.
See ya'll in a few days.

Re: A Players view on Mods
OBMM has several benefits, among others it let's you change the mod load-sequence on the fly. In the latest Wrye Bash that I had, you still had to mingle with Mod-file dates to accomplish this. The only dependancy for OBMM was the dot.Net2-framework, I think.

Re: A Players view on Mods
Yeah. I don't think I could have managed mods without OBMM. It was the first thing I ever added to Oblivion and I've never been sorry. Got me out of some really tight (scary) places with the ease of just changing the arrangement of the mods. And, when I felt brave enough to try OMODS . . . well, that was an amazing experience, too.

Wrye Bash allows moving ESPs without editing the date (for 99% of users, me excluded). Select an ESP (or group of them) and hold down the Ctrl key. Now use the up or down arrows to move those files in the load order. Doesn't work for me however for some reason, this function stopped working on my computers (every one I've had, every Windows reinstallation) about 100 versions ago.

Re: A Players view on Mods
Interesting, Vorians. Wonder why. By any chance do you know the modification to the config file for Morrowind to enable getting the console key back? I have both a Hewlard Packard computer and Windows 7 and cannot use the tilde key for either Oblivion or Morrowind. Lalwende found me a mod for Oblivion that enables the Console key and I am searching for something for Morrowind.

Re: A Players view on Mods
No sorry, don't know. I never used mods nor the console when I played Morrowind. I read somewhere that motherboards with an IR (Infra-red) port can disable the tilde key even when no IR device is plugged in, and that disabling the IR device in Windows Device Manager should fix that.

Re: A Players view on Mods
Thanks I think your are right. I will check into that and see if I can disable whatever it is. I remember on my other HP being told to disable the device and saying that I had no device. Your explanation goes to the next logical step.
