Re: Buying a castle in Oblivion
Haha, Lalwende, I just envisioned your character stuck in an Oblivion Casino, with the loan shark coming after you because you reneged on your loan

Re: Buying a castle in Oblivion
Lol, how funny would it be, if your character had loan sharks and/or bill collectors pop up every so often and try to collect their money. You would have to keep killing off the annoying buggers...kinda like all the assassins that try to get you from that one quest. Or like the Fan where they just follow you everywhere asking for money. Hmm...maybe that's a little too realistic.

Re: Buying a castle in Oblivion
But in fact it's not THAT bad an idea for a mod... For example if you could take a loan from Bank of Cyrodiil but for a high percent so you look for a kind of Shady Sam to get some money... Or even the percentage is lower in the bank but you can't take too much (like IRL )? So you have to pay the debt, say next month, and if you forget they're after you If you start killing collectors your loan goes up and you can end getting more and more collectors after you

Re: Buying a castle in Oblivion
Isn't there such a shady/obscure bank in Cheydinhal, where you are not allowed to enter. Anyone of you enterprising thief's ventured there already? I have not so far. Maybe this can be exploited/made use of?

Re: Buying a castle in Oblivion
Ya, maybe it's from a mod, Kosh? I thought I pretty much went into every house in Cheydinhal (I was practiced my stealth there a lot), and don't recall a shady bank. But it has been a long time since I played, it could be my memory.

Re: Buying a castle in Oblivion
As for castles, realisticly they should be something that you are granted with a title.
IE: After the TEC main quest is done AND your imperial rank is a certain level, you're awarded with an estate, and the farms/lands associated with it, thus you have a slow steady income, but responsibility to go with it. So yeah they're 'free', but only after preforming invaluable service and being yourself elevated to the nobility, and then you should have to work to make it productive, keep your tradespeople/farmers safe, etc etc
