Games with a constant boom, boom noise.
Several times I have had a game with a constant booming noise. The noise that imps make when they cast spells.
On my new installation I had the following installed.
Oblivion.esm CyrodiilUpgradeResourcePack.esm CURP_Controller.esm DLCShiveringIsles.esp Quest Award Leveller.esp DLCSpellTomes.esp Unofficial Oblivion Patch.esp SetEssentialActors.esp CUO_UnLeveledVendors.esp CUO_MerchantUpdate_SAFE.esp CUO_UnleveledGuards&Legioneers_DIRTY.esp CUO_NewFactionDialog_SAFE.esp CUO_Dwemer.esp CUO_Spells_DIRTY.esp CUO_BadGuy_Specific_Loot_DIRTY.esp CUO_FightersGuildContracts_SAFE.esp CUO_UnLeveledPotions.esp TEC_4ERA_Dialog_Filter.esp Origin of the Mages Guild.esp CUO_UnLeveledNPCs&Creatures.esp CUO_UnLeveledLoot.esp EnchantmentRestore_Wells.esp ScriptIcon_Replacer.esp TheElderCouncil.esp EnchantmentRestore.esp Ring of console.esp UOP Vampire Aging & Face Fix.esp Oblivion Citadel Door Fix.esp AliveWaters - Koi Addon.esp AliveWaters - Slaughterfish Addon.esp AliveWaters.esp more books teach.esp phinix-waterfix.esp Enhanced Grabbing.esp (DC) Sutch Reborn.esp *************** I also have DCLs installed but not all activated.
When my PC stepped out of the prison sewers the boom, boom noise started. None of the mods should have caused this. I studied the load list for a bit and noticed that the UOP was smack in the middle of the DCLs so I decided to move it up under the esms. Went back to the same saved gamed and again exited the sewers. The noise was gone and has not come back.
There may be other causes of this annoying noise but it would seem that for some reason the UOP needs to be above the DCLs or some particular DCL. I haven't isolated which one yet.

Re: Games with a constant boom, boom noise.
I have this problem as well, in particular when I mount/dismount a horse, enter/exit sneak-mode and ready or sheathe my weapon. There is a fix for this I think somewhere in the UOP-menu? It assigns different sound schemes to scripted events. Tried all, no solution so far alas. I also tried the "Script Silencer"-mod, also to no success alas. I think I will try this reshuffling of the DLC's/UOP's sometime, it just might work. Too bad my existing save game is somehow borked, because when I enter certain places, or take longer periods of rest, the game crashes (CTD). (This is not related to the memory limit that Oblivion has, i.e. when the memory imprint nears approx 1.7 GB, the game crashes. This is a limitation that all Windows 32bit-programs have, that they can only use approx. 2 GB from the max. addressable 4 GB and the remaining 2 GB is then reserved by the system itself. There is a fix for this. It's called the "Large Address Aware"-patch, which can patch the Oblivion.exe, in such a way, that it's aware that it can use more memory than the above mentioned limit. SiteLink: http://www.musikbanken.se/TechLaaTiDo.aspx Download: http://www.musikbanken.se/laatidosetup.exeMost benefit from this will be reached on a 64-bit OS with 4 GB RAM or more. On 32-bit systems with more than 3 GB memory the benefits are less significant.) My game CTD's well before that limit. (@ approx 1.1 GB, running Windows7 64-bit with 4 GB RAM). Small update:If you are applying this fix and you are using OBSE, make sure to use v18 or later, as this version of OBSE is aware of the L.A.A.-patch to the Oblivion.exe. If you're using an earlier version, Oblivion won't be started via OBSE, and the program crashes with errors.

Re: Games with a constant boom, boom noise.
Not caused by Sutch has something to do with the UOP and load order I think. I have gotten rid of the noise by moving the UOP patch. I just wondered if anyone knew what caused it.
Also if anyone else has that problem this is a possible solution. Move the UOP above the DCLs and see if that helps. Another Oblivion mystery.

The "Large Address Aware"-patch can also be applied to the CS. It will benefit from this as well.

Re: Games with a constant boom, boom noise.
I've had this happen with a completely different load order then yours. Considering the constant frequency, it must have been something to do with quest scripts interfering or something similair. I had it happen when I added Enhanced Deadric Invasion.I run the UOP without problems.

Re: Games with a constant boom, boom noise.
That makes sense to me. I think I added a mod that made it so that the wells would restore your enchanted weapons and it has a script attached to it. Before that I had been using the UOP for hours without a problem.

Re: Games with a constant boom, boom noise.
Just an update on this in case someone else has a similar problem. I finally found out what was wrong. I had the UOP installed and found if I moved it to the highest level after the official patches the booming noise stopped. It must have been overriding another mod and that caused the problem.
