 Re: Morrowind
I look forward to reading Jarla's story. My current character is now level 35 and head of Great House Telvanni. (Still haven't done the main quest, though. ) She is still quite busy with all her new obligations and making sure certain would-be assassins regret their actions - for a short time. (She is very vengeful.) Her main plan now is to make Telvanni the most powerful house in Morrowind, and perhaps in Tamriel, too. Lots of good support from her council members in this. I think I will go back and start a new character before too long, though. There are some things I want to add that do better starting out than when you're already fairly high up. But, I want to finish the Telvanni struggle first. Takes a while to get to this level in a Great House and will take much longer when I add Crafting and GCD and a few others. hehe. If you get interested in one of the houses, let me know and I can give you links to the mods that expand on each. Telvanni is the best represented, though, and the most up-to-date. Which is why I decided to follow that route this time through. Never went for that house before and it is a lot of fun - if a little evil. hehe. I agree about the things Morrowind did so well that weren't included in Oblivion - like NPC's reactions to the storms. I found I really did miss that once I saw it again. I hope they will do something similar to it in Skyrim. Perhaps have the NPC's pull their cloaks about them tighter in snow storms, or at least shiver. Probably hoping for too much, but it would be fun. The only mods I've made (for myself) were a couple of house mods in Oblivion. Just the basic stuff. I'm not too good with the CS and I get nervous when using it.

 Re: Morrowind
If you would like to move through the ranks of the other houses as well, this is possible via a few tweaks in the console. Check the UESP Morrowind-wiki for more details. I successfully managed to move though all 3 the ranks of the great houses and even acquired a stronghold for all 3 houses. All 3 houses are an experience in itself: Different architectures, culture, dealing with dogma's like slavery, etc. They are quite fun and good. I would even like to point out that you give it a try, for the experience alone, it's worth it! Since my savegame troubles, I haven't paid much attention to it anymore alas, so I was not able to test the houses-extention mods you mentioned.

 Re: Morrowind
Hmm. If you're role playing, it would probably be rather difficult to complete all three houses to the very top. I mean, Telvanni especially, and Redoran just a little less, really dislke and/or distrust the other houses. And, I think Hlaalu is the only one that doesn't require that you kill the other stronghold owners before you can assume house leadership. Also, both Hlaalu and Redoran require that you solve the Caldera mine issue in their favor as part of the house quests, not to mention interceding in several battles between various houses which you must end in one house's favor. It would require changing the vanilla quest lines considerably to do this.
I know there is a mod that allows you to join all three, but I think I've heard you must choose one before you climb too high - and even then, the vanilla quests must be changed (I assume). I didn't know you could tweak the console for that effect, though. Again, I'd have to wonder how you would complete the quests.
It probably would be interesting to try, but I think I want to complete each path before I want to combine them. I've done Hlaalu, and now Telvanni. I still need to try the Redoran path. (I'm still waiting to see if someone completes the Redoran version of Rise of House Telvanni. Hlaalu was quite disappointing when I got to the top, but there wasn't a good mod expansion for that house then.)

 Re: Morrowind
Kosh? What kind of savegame troubles were you having? I haven't heard of any problems like that with Morrowind, or Oblivion either.

Kosh wrote: I had some corruptions in my save, which gave me the problem of not being able to save the game in a normal way. Starting up Morrowind causes also a delay of 25 min. in which it tries to fix some things, (something about re-indexing quests) and only then I can play. This was on a single-CPU PC (an AMD XP Barton@2133MHz with 2GB of memory running Windows XP). Tried several utilities from Wrye-Mash on the savegames, alas to no succes.

 Re: Morrowind
Oh, dear. I've usually had success repairing saves with Wrye Mash, but I guess if the save is totally corrupted, there's no hope for it, except going back to a previous save. (I've had to do that a couple of times, so I always have two or three that I change between on regular, short, time scales. And, a different one for each city I visit.)
There have been some new Wrye Mashes, by the way. One is a stand-alone that doesn't require installing pylon or whatever the requirement is for the older models. I use an older one, though. The latest stable version when I was looking for it. But, people now say the newer ones are quite stable and have even more assistance to them.

 Re: Morrowind
The problems introduced themselves sometime after installing the DLC's (Tribunal & Bloodmoon)and I stubbornly hung in there and managed to do all open quests that I had, before quitting. So there probably is not a save around anymore that is not affected. Maybe a very old one from before the DLC's.

 Re: Morrowind
Nope. Didn't didn't have any particular problems with saves after Tribunal and Bloodmoon were installed. Mostly, I got corrupted files after my game crashed (CTD). Then, on reload, the save game was corrupted. Sometimes a previous one was too, particularly if I saved that one in the same area. The next one back was usually OK.
You did remember to load them in the correct order, I'm guessing. (Morrowind, Tribunal, Bloodmoon) And, you did snag the official patches (unless you're using the GOTY version)?
Morrowind Code Project (MCP) has some fixes that make the game a little more stable, as well as fixing some problems in the game itself. Have you tried installing that? Seems someone mentioned it might help some on corrupted saves, too.
That game is probably shot, but the fun part of Morrowind, I think, is that it's a lot of fun starting over (especially if you add a couple of different mods) and trying a new type of character, or decide to run the character differently. Such as, my first character was sneaky, extremely loyal to friends, and preferred bribing all foes rather than fighting or killing them. Made my character a good Thieves Guild member and perfect for climbing the ladder of Hlaalu. (Became House Archmagister, as well as head of Camonna Tong when I bribed the Duke's brother to let me take over.)
This time, my character is a grudge holding mage. More or less standoffish unless someone gets in her face, threatens her, or insults her. Then, she's like a wild cat and just as dangerous. Not stupid, though. She has intelligence of 98 and waits until she gets the proper skills she needs to really bring her enemies to their knees. Perfect for Telvanni. Honed her skills on a tour of the Telvanni lands on the mainland, too.
