 Mr. K's Maomer Traveling Merchant Mod idea
Hi DC Modders; I am not a Modder, just a lowly Voice Actor, with the fallacy of having a Texas Accent. I am researching Vallenwood to find a way to have a little story to base a NPC on. A race of Elves that settled in a few coastal areas in Valenwood are the Maormer or Sea Elves or Tropical Elves. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Maormer "They have pale, almost chameleon-like skin and yellow eyes." Very little is written about them and they are a Race of Elves that split from the original Altmer in the Dawn Era. As far as I can tell the Maormer could have a very different accent from any other Elves, an accent that could fit my Voice. I would like to write some lines in a nested story line that could be used in a Mod to add a Traveling Merchant from Valenwood that would not be a Bosmer with all their Tree Worshiping, to sell some special wood and some strong potion ingredients. Something like the Traveling Merchants in Fallout. My question is; Do any of you Lore Masters know how the Bosmer in Valenwood would react to a small group of Sea Elves harvesting Wood and shipping it out of Valenwood. In other words, can my NPC sell large amounts of wood for construction or would it have to be small amounts of some very special wood. Do any of you have suggestions for what kind of wood would be a good wood to sell, a kind of wood only found in Valenwood? Or can I make up a wood type and name? Another question I have is; is it possible to make a few new plant ingredients that look different from other ingredients, and have some odd and useful combination of properties? Maybe some Sea Snake Venom, or Sea Anemone Tentacles, maybe some Sea Urchin Spines... One special thing for this NPC is for it to wear a Bear Skin Robe to stay warm outside but if he goes inside where there is a fire pit, he removes his robe, this would be so we could see that this Maormer looks very different from other Elvish races. My last question is; Do any of you experienced Modders want to build a Mod somewhat based on the story line I have started? Mr. K

 Re: Skyrim Gameplay - some spoilers
Hi Everybody;
OK, I wrote the 1st set of lines so you can take a look and see where I am going so far. If you like this idea and want to work on this for a Mod project, just let me know. I am not very fast at writing lines, but I have been thinking about this for a wile and I will work on it some more.
The lines I have so far are just suggestions and I would like to work around your ideas for a Mod that would be a Traveling Maormer Merchant Mod that I could record the lines for. This could also be a Companion Mod where the Player and K'Tejas could go Hunting, or a Quest Mod to go after a Team of Bandits that have killed one of K'Tejas's Guards and stolen some important item.
The lines I have posted are just a set of lines to start you thinking, no need to use them if you have other ideas.
Mr. K

The Traveling Merchant from Valenwood
A story of a Maormer in Skyrim
A small group of Maormer or Sea Elves living in Valenwood have a wood harvesting and ingredients gathering business in the Forests of Valenwood to sell in other parts of Tamriel.
One of the Traveling Maormer Merchants is working in Skyrim, sometimes he can be found driving his cart on the roads of Skyrim, other times he can be found walking to and entering a tavern for the night. Outside K’Tejas is cold and always wears a big over-sized Bear Robe to stay warm, after a short amount of time inside a Tavern he will take off his robe and everyone can see that he is not one of the more common races of Altmer. He is a Maormer, with pale, almost chameleon-like skin and yellow eyes. K’Tejas is a happy person that is always selling some very odd things from Valenwood, and a lot of normal things he has gotten from his customers. He travels with two Nord Guards that stay with the cart to protect K’Tejas and his merchandise.
This is the 1st time encounter with K’Tejas: the Player (PC) sees K’Tejas (K) on the road and stops to talk:
K-1Greeting Hello Stranger, It sure is cold out today, I hope I make it to the next Tavern before nightfall. My home is on the cost of Valenwood and it is always warm there.
PC -1A It’s not that cold, in fact it’s the growing season.
K-1A2 Yes for potatoes, wheat or Snowberries maybe, but you can’t grow Bougainvilleas or Zingiberales in Skyrim. And you don’t have any trees here, maybe a few small ones. If you cut one down for the wood and planted a few seedlings to replace the one you cut, it would take most of the next Era to get big enough to cut. In Valenwood there are Trees everywhere and if you plant a seedling and come back the next year, it will be taller than most any big tree here in Skyrim.
PC -1B Valenwood, I’ve heard of it but I never even been to Cyrodiil, and Valenwood is on the other side, far to the South.
K-1B Yes it’s a long way to my home on the South Coast of Valenwood. I live in a small community just off the beach; I can hear the surf anytime this icy wind dies down, makes me homesick a little, but there is a lot of profit to be made for an enterprising merchant here in Skyrim. So here I am! Ha! I just got back from Valenwood and I have most of my merchandise I brought on this trip, you want to take a peek at my wares?
PC -1C I know a few Wood Elves, but you don’t sound like a Bosmer, and your eyes are Yellow.
K-1C No, No, I’m not one of those Damnable Tree Worshipers, if they see you with a bit of wood in your hand, they get all perturbed! Let’s just say I don’t get along with the Bosmer living in Valenwood, but the ones that have left the “old Homeland” don’t mind me anymore than most other people. You know, I can buy anything you don’t need, or sell you some very interesting things, you want to bargain?
PC -1D You’re not a Bandit are you? I got my trusty Blade if you are!
K-1D No I’m not a Bandit, and if you look at Brick and Brack next to my cart, I think you will just keep that blade sharp for another day, and I have had to kill a few Bandits and a Brown Bear or two, myself. But let’s not worry about that, maybe we could go hunting sometime. You look like a lot more fun as a Guide then those two. B & B are the best at keeping me on time and out of trouble, that Gold can buy, but the training they had to go through is enough to take the fun out of guys like that! I had to work on them a lot to get them to stop scaring the Customers. They’re Hilarious, but in the most understated and dark way I have ever seen.
PC-1E What have you got for sale?
K-1E I was wondering if you would ever get around to buying or selling anything. Let’s see what you got.
K- Goodbye-1- no sell OK, well if you ever have a need or want some Gold, look me up. My name is K’Tejas.
K- Goodbye-2- sell Thanks, I like helping people to buy or sell from me, good profit for all to be had! By the way, the name is K’Tejas.

 Re: Skyrim Gameplay - some spoilers
Hi Everybody;
This is the 2nd encounter with K’Tejas: The player is walking up to a Tavern and sees K’Tejas just as he get’s down from his cart, and goes over to sell some loot, if not K’Tejas starts a conversation:
K-2A Hello, ahh…, well Hi there … umm…, Well I never can remember your name, no good at the kind of names you run into here in Skyrim. Let’s just go inside so I can warm up and get this heavy bear rug off my back.
PC-2A I haven’t seen you in a wile, how are you K’Tahous?
K-2B Fine, just Fine. Ha! I got some good bargains since I saw you last… Well no I’m not doing so well. I lost Brick to a very tough and sneaky little Son of a Bucket Head! I am all torn up about the whole thing. Got Blood all over my merchandise, had to take 3 days to clean it up, and had to throw some of it out. The sad part is I cried the first two days, after the Funeral Pyre. And poor Brack, he hasn’t been his own self, he can’t concentrate on watching the World for Bandits and Beasts, I had to stop 3 or 4 times to cast some Destruction Spells, and practice some Healing on Brack. And the name is “K’Tejas”,K-Te-jas. The name is easier than the long version; I won’t even try to explain.
PC-2B1 How did it happen, K’Tejas? Between the three of you, I can’t imagine anyone getting away with any kind of an attack.
K-2B1 Brack and I where sleeping in a nook under a cliff, and Brick was on watch. It looked like a safe and easy place to defend. About an hour before Sunrise, somebody above on the cliff dropped a big rock on Brick and killed him outright, and about five other Bandits jumped us. It was Bad, real Bad… Three of them got away, and the leader ran off with my Staff. That Staff was my Grandfather’s Staff, it is a Strong Shock Staff with about a max of 120 charges, handy to have, but I lost track of how many charges I had left, and he grabbed it just as I turned to blast him. Maybe you and I could track him down. How about it?
PC-2B2 I’ll go with you, if I can have any loot I pick up.
K-2B2 I think I know how to find him, I have been asking any Mage I can think of about a Big Bandit with a missing ear, asking to recharge a staff like my Grand Pa’s. Sooner or later he will want to try and recharge it. I got his ear with my Dagger just as one of his partners stepped in the way of me cutting his Jugular. Got it in one of my bags here someplace. Anyway, by time I dispatched his partner he had run away. And I’ll tell you this: If we can catch him, you can have every thing we find, and I’ll buy anything you don’t want for full price! All I want is my Grand Pa's Staff, and to kill me a Bandit or maybe all of them. One Mage told me she was asked to charge an odd looking staff, but he did not have any Soul Gems for her to use. She said his name was Sol or Solly or Sal.
PC-2B3 With a deal like that I can take a risk on catching your Bandit! Let’s Go!
PC-2B4 Don’t tell me your Troubles, just let me see what you have to sell.
K-2B4 Well I’m getting a little low on Vallenwood goods, but I have a good collection of Armor, weapons and fancy clothes. Take a look.
PC-2B4 Not today, I don’t need anything.

Hi Admen;
My previous 3 Posts probably should be in a different place, please move them if you think it would be better.
Thanks

 Mr. K's Mod idea for a Maomer Traveling Merchant mod.<
This sounds very interesting, Mr K.
I know there was a quest mod for Oblivion called Bartholm. A part of it featured the Moarmer. They attacked a neighbor town/community of Bartholm. Their looks seemed to match your description somewhat. Although they weren't "fleshed out" to much, it was fun to play that part of the mod.
I think when you make it at least lore-friendly, you can't do much wrong here. I don't know much of "the lore around the Moarmer", but I bet you can find some facts on "The Imperial Library" or other Elderscrolls (fan) websites.

 Re: Skyrim Gameplay - some spoilers
 Hokay, Mr. K, first of all you are not a LOWLY There is no such thing as a lowly voice actor, lously VAs, mediocre VAs, Good VAs, great VAs but not lowly. They can make a mod really stand out and be more interesting or they can make a good mod sound awful. Modders choice. Even the back up actors add or detract from a mod. Now for your idea of a mod. I think it is great. Would have to change some of the PC's dialogue or give some choices to answers depending on what race he is. There are people who Bosners. . I am interested in this mod. I can check on lore for you. I like the idea of the new ingredients from the sea. Seap soup anyone? I will check and let you know what I find out. If you want to chop down exotic trees you may have to move the locality a little. We could create an island near but not part of Valenwood where some very unual tress and plants grow. We would need a scripter, an someone who can make NIFs and texturing. If your character is only temprarily following the PC then we don't need a full-fledged companion mod. Beth already has followers and companions in Skyrim so that shouldn't be hard. Supposedly the CK will include a templete for at least simple quests. However. If I am involved in creating this mod your guards would be attacked by necromancers who steal their bodies for nefarious use. Coming up with one evil necromancer with aged voice. If I can figure out how to move posts I will put it in the Skyrim Mod forum. Added: We may have a problem with chopping down trees in Vallenwood. It seems the Bosner made a pack with the Tree God, Y'ffir to not harm or eat the vegetation of Allenwood. I think the sea ingredients would be alright since they don't come from the land. Sea urchins wouldn't be vegetation and they could have an exotic name. Kelp by any name is very healthy.

 Re: Mr. K's Mod idea for a Maomer Traveling Merchant mod.<
Ah yes, the sea elves come from the little island in the south what was it again... pandome(this isnt an island, its the primal force of evil, form which daedra spring ) or something like that? pandora keeps coming to mind but those are blue creatures that live there...not sea elves hehehe i am not a lore master... especially not for the 4th era... however i would say that the wood elves would freak if sea elves, who are not native to vallenwood, came in and took their trees... with that said, there could always be part of the story that the sea elves have made a deal with a corrupt vallenwood leader to get large quantities of trees in exchange for a rare drug that can only be gotten in their homeland? i remember reading a book where vampires were able to feast on anyone they want, and the guards would turn a blind eye because the mayor was getting powerful drugs from the head vampire... so in theory that could help you get more of the wood and give it more of a background story... and make sure to place the blame on the wood elf official... like the drugs do not have that affect on the sea elves, so they dont know its doing harm the thing with the robes on and off would be very easy to do, provide the trick i used in oblivion would still work hehe the hardest part here that i see would be the fact of actually making the sea elf race >.> i do not know how to make the textures for the skins.... but if you find someone who is able to make your sea elf race... i would be more than happy to do the rest
