How the smurf could you forget comedy as a category?




A decade or so ago my son and I came in near the the end of some maudlin tear jerker chic flick that wife and daughters were watching, after about 10 minutes I asked him:

You know what would really improve this movie?
Yeah, I think so...
If terrorists were to crash through the ceiling and kill all these losers..
Yup, that's it.

Actually, I think I saw something similar to that, Lefty, but it was a TV show rather than a movie. I believe it was an evening soap opera. Just after everybody had identified who gave birth to or fathered everybody else (and who was madly in love with someone unexpected) and decided to have a biiiig family wedding, gunmen broke into the ceremony and shot nearly all of them. I think it was cancelled shortly after that. Viewers decided it was too much drama.

Anyway, I'll watch just about any PBS movie (particularly the ones they get from BBC) eagerly. And, I have ended up purchasing several because I enjoyed them so much. I also await all new Harry Potter movies and bought at least 2 versions of Lord of the Rings (so I wouldn't have to wait to have it and then again to get the extended versions).

My story deals with an a movie touted as an artistic Movie and show in a cinema that showed artistic movies. It was a Japanese movie. I and a friend innocently went to this highly recommended movie. Well it turned out to be a very well and tastefully done pornographic movie. Now I admit that I can enjoy nicely done pornography just as much as the next women or man for that matter. But as the movie moved on it began to get a bit violent. Oh, it was a straight pornographic movie, a man and a women. The violence was being done by the women. At least that was different but I am beginning to get uncomfortable. There was no nudity, those Japanese know something we don't.

However the man has his private part properly or improperly exposed when the woman picked up a pair of scissors and headed towards those parts. I got up and walked out, my friend followed. I have no idea how the movie ended. Rather unpleasantly I suspect.
