 Resource pack question
I've been following a thread on Bethsoft that includes a fair amount of discussion on possible conflicts between your resource pack and Giskard's resource pack. I'm not sure how much of that information is accurate. Will your mods work with Giskard's current version of his resource pack? If this is not the case, you may need to make some changes to yours so that your mods will continue to work with your resource pack even if people also have Giskard's mods installed. (Edit) I forgot to put the link to that thread in. http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/t ... kard-mods/

 Re: Resource pack question
Afaik all of the older mod's of G. fully work with our DCRP v1.58, It was designed that way. (His version was 1.48, we added to it, until our v1.58).
Anything that he made recently and might have added to it (in the last year and a half perhaps) however, might not be up to date on our side. But we never intended to add anything to it anymore, after some events you might or might not be aware of. (ask one of the admins for more info).
I am not up to speed on latest events and developments on G.'s TEG. So it´s best to ask about that as well to someone who is up to speed.

 Re: Resource pack question
I don't need to ask anyone after seeing him in action in November 2008 through January 2009. My personal opinion of the man is not repeatable in polite company. Giskard appears to have set his resource pack to override DC's and arrange Oblivion so that any mods you have made that rely on it will not work if people install his new mods. That is what is being said on that thread I linked to and my limited testing shows that it seems to be true.

 Re: Resource pack question
Giskard did not do anything bad to our resource pack, ysne. In fact, he has bent over backward to make sure ours still works with his newest mods in spite of all the troubles of the past.
DCRP (our resource pack) was originally just his final edition of it - version 1.4.8 - plus more resources that we added. Since his final edition ended on Pack 6, we started our additions as pack 7 and continued adding until we had 13 packs. At that time, we had also made some changes to TEC that used some of our new resources as well, and Onra and Firesparks made their Fort Akatosh and Guards of Cyrodiil to use the new additions to the resource pack as well.
Since the troubles, we have not been to make any more updates to our version of TEC (which is the one on Nexus and is called DC-TEC) but DCRP was given to us to do with as we wished. This is also the version you find on Nexus (not Giskard's) We started planning to add more resources to support Biulding's newer efforts, but users on Nexus started complaining rather loudly that the resource pack was too large and they wouldn't/didn't want to download anything that big. So, we cancelled our plans to make new packs.
Around the time of that decision, Giskard started working with his mods, and in order to keep our resource pack compatible with anything he wished to do, he left CURP 1.4.8 alone - exactly the same as when he first allowed DC to use it for our needs - and instead began adding updates through an addon system. DCRP , packs 1 - 6 is STILL exactly the same as CURP 1.4.8.

 Re: Resource pack question
continued:
Today, you can use any of Giskard's mods with our pack, DCRP, so long as you keep our esm checked in your game as well as adding the esm/esp of his updated portion of CURP. Without our DCRP, you must add CURP 1.4.8 before adding the CURP updated portion. With it, you need only add the updated portion and make sure our esm is the one checked instead of CURP 1.4.8's. (He did this on purpose to maintain compatibility with our resource mod and the mods that are dependent on it. And, he describes exactly what to do in his readme if you have ours loaded.)
And, yes, Fort Akatosh and Guards of Cyrodiil no longer need DCRP, but anyone with older versions will still need it. Plus there are some other mods that have adopted our version. We are maintaining our resouce pack for this reason, though we do intend to update it in the future to make it a smaller download. We will not change packs 1 - 6 nor have we ever changed those.
I have seen the discussion on Beth about this, and nearly cried because there is so much confusion and misinformation about this. Unfortunately, I cannot ease the situation over there.

 Re: Resource pack question
I am hearing there are some folders in DCRP that may have minor name changes (to the folders) that may be causing some problems, but these are newer reports and DCRP has not changed since it was first loaded to Nexus over a year ago and there were no problems reported at that time. We are trying to run this down but the reports do not give us any quick way to locate any problems and, as I said, we did not get any problem reports in nearly a year after it was loaded to Nexus and we have done nothing to change it since then. I wonder if some people are trying to use DCRP with someone's later mod efforts that no longer use it? Or, perhaps, they are using Giskard's 1.4.8 esm instead of ours? I do hear of a problem with downloading the OMOD version we uploaded to Nexus at around the same time. We will try and get that fixed, if we can.

 Re: Resource pack question
I finally figured out that Forgrum's Travelogue is a broken mod. I was using at the time I started this thread. That was what was causing me problems.

 Re: Resource pack question
Oh. Sorry to hear that. I don't know the mod in question, but I hope the modder is still working on it to get it working properly.

 Re: Resource pack question
It's been around since 2006. I doubt anyone even knows how to fix whatever is wrong with it. It interferes with quest scripts and other scripts if you run it long enough. Your game eventually becomes totally unplayable. Took me hours and hours by process of elimination to figure out this one was the culprit.
