Post Forums and why we join them.
Recent events have rather complicated my life. When this happens I like to think it out and get feedback from others.

I have only been really active on the Internet the last 7 or 8 years. About 12 years ago I did go ln looking for medical information and a support group. Found some info but never found a good support group.

I have only been really active in about 7 forums. One I was a forum moderator, got the job because I complained that we didn't have a moderator, each forum had its own moderator(s) depending on activity. :)

Being a special needs person a lot of places are closed to me either because of the difficulty of going or of reading the site. If it weren't for Ortilino I wouldn't have been able to Join Dragon Captions. :D

The question is why do we join a forum? The need for information where we need to join in order to access it of course. Why do we stay in a forum and get active? Because we find it interesting, stimulating, thought provoking and, of course, warm and welcoming. Companionship is important. There are many types of forums from ones that deal with very serious problems to ones that are strictly for some kind of fun. All the forums that I have been active in where game forums. Game forums are both for information, help and fun and those are the ones I specifically want to target.

The First, proper forums I joined was The Engineering Guild, and like many people I was attracted by the MODs, but then found something much better. Bioware Social Network was for laughs mostly. I loved having those silly arguments with those doomsayers :p. And last I came here because of The Engineering Guild. Though I'm not very active here, since I'm usually at the guild :D.

I can't explain why, it all depends. I don't think I would join an other forum. But I have been active in the net since 2007. Before that I was mostly playing RTS games.

Because Scythe has commitments right now we are not very active. Not sure what the future holds but the present is enough for me.

I joined my first game forum, Sorcerers Place, when I was playing Icewind Dale II. I had a question, couple actually and you normally have to join to to post. Didn't post much the first year, about 215 I think. Someone ran a "How Old Are You" Poll and I rather hesitantly posted that I was in the senior group. Over 55 I think the category was. I wasn't sure how the kiddies would react but they loved it. I had my avatar already but became an SP Account holder and eventually became a 'Distinguished Member" made my 5000 posts and got my Rogue Stone. Got involved in the Alleys, forums for serious subjects and debates. :D We had some humdinger of arguments. It was fun, exhilarating and educational. I am not so active now but it is still home. :D
