This is more an annoying problem than a lethal one.
I have no random CTDs while playing the game but on exit from game to desktop I have recently started getting constant messages that Oblivion has stopped working. I have Windows 7

I was originally using CURP back installed DCRP I deactivated the CURP controller and installed the DCRP Master controller. Looking at my load order I seem to have two controllers activated. I don't know if this is incorrect or which one should be the active one.

It s a basic game engine bug, often affecting even unmodified vanilla Obivion, you can find mod to ameliorate it at TES Nexus.

I am sure there are more, some handle just the exit crash, some work on multiple crashes.

You should search the forums there and at the official elder scrolls forums for more choices.

Thank you, Lefty. With this install I guess I have been lucky. Have had very few Game to Desktop CTDs until just recently.

My game CTDs every time I exit form the game to the main menu, and about 10% of the time exiting entirely, with it hanging for a while when it does not crash. Since the CTD does no harm, and is a much quicker exit, I typically use the exit to main menu CTD to leave the game, only using the longer exit when I have change a setting that I want remembered by the game.

When doing in-game changes you can use the following: go to console type saveini enter then type save (name of game) then use either qqq to exit which I find does hang or use your perfered exit.

Very true. but it is supposed to keep your game from becoming corrupted.

You should search for fast exit 2, this was the latest version from what I remember.

It uses OBSE and it causes no more C2D on exit and you actually can get back to the main
menu and it will let you adjust your game settings and options without any problems.

That sounds good, Kosh. Does it really work as advertised? I've been terribly annoyed with that crash on exit stuff, but I always thought it was something we just had to put up with if we modded our game.

Works as advertised. Game quits to desktop quickly instead of sitting and sulking for a while. Almost never get a crash during the quitting process (does still happen on rare occasions if an installed mod has upset the game).
