Welcome to the DC Medievalist Guild
Welcome,
The aim of the Guild is to inspire your modding efforts. I am conducting research into the medieval period for possible use in my own pen & paper based RPG. I am focusing on the years 1000-1250 with a geographic slant towards England. As an aside I am tending towards low magic but it will be fantasy based (i.e. elves, dwarves, dragons, etc) with a medieval infrastructure if you will.
I've found some of my research has inspired the OB modding community so I am willing to share as my way of giving back (well this plus voice acting). Nothing is copyrighted (well, other than the sources) so use what you like, ignore the rest.
My research is historical and also drawn from pen & paper RPG game systems (e.g. Harn, GURPS Middle Ages, Rolemaster). I do not have the background on TES lore to figure out how it fits into your gaming world. That is your responsbility to take on and "defend".
So welcome and feel free to contribute to the forums. Ask questions, challenge and thirst for new ideas.
Cheers,
TheShamus

I started RPG back in 1980 or 1981 so other than UK released games, pretty much know or had the gammut. Except for Tunnels & Trolls, Nowena pointed that one out once and I hadn't seen it. T&T she called it. But yah, I had RuneQuest, ICE MERP, Loermaster, Rolemaster, AD&D (the sequel to D&D so much be version 1 or 2). Strange I hadn't played RPG with people since early 80's though. Didn't RPG until Bard's Tale II on an Atari 1040ST. Course then Baldur's Gate came along, NWN, NWN II then I picked up OB GOTY in 2008. A whole genre alomst passed me by.

Always time to catch up! Dragon Strike was one of my first pen and papers..what great imagination it took...and weird it looked whenever anyone else walked in midway through the game

Wonderful idea, TheShamus! I love this.
Also, you might be interested to know that T&T (Tunnels and Trolls) has done extensive research on their midieval weapons systems. In some cases, they used drawings of weapons in museums as well as research books and the internet.
And, AD&D is up to version 4 now.

All of you should check out http://www.waynesbooks.com/ some time for a stroll down memory lane. It is Waynes Books and Old School Games. I didn't remember over 1/2 the titles he lists an dis the only reason I could spout of a few in my prior post. Strangely Dragon Strike is not listed on his site. Send him a request. Also many of Wayne's books are available on Amazon through him.

And, AD&D is up to version 4 now. I'll have to pick T&T up then. I bought GURPS Middle Ages off of Amazon used, sure I'll be able to find T&T. Thanks. Yes, version 4 and so many worlds. Although being a low magic medieval fantasy guy, AD&D has become too fantastic for me. I even balked at psionincs in v.2, but then that is my personal preference.
