That thors hammer needs to be added ingame as a book. Have the directions setup so you can backtrack them and actualy find his corpse, with a repair hammer.

Prehaps even have it be part of a minor quest for Bruma, crazy son of a local woman vanished, his parents died, most locals wont talk, you piece together that he is named Thor, which is considerd bad luck by nords, and he's kinda really retarded, and started to think hes all powerful after some drunk traveler is cornering a local woman in an alley and he smashed his skull with the repair hammer, apparently her thanks and praise were new to him (used to being treated liek crap) and thor decides he is the real Thor.

Prehaps have the local blacksmith (or the blacksmith in the castle bruma, IIRC there IS a smith there too) be who he worked for when he rememberd he had a job, and that person gives you the first tips (leading to a general area to check out, prehaps have 4-8 quest markers for this marking a broad area w/o walking you to it, allowing you to track him down as you find mising pages from his journal, in the end you fight some witch and find Thor's body, and the rest of teh journal. Also, prehaps, have the hammer have some curse on it, but depending on what you do with the body and the quest, his ghost appears, thanks you (need some REALLY funny/retarded dialouge for this) and lifts the curse on the hammer. Name changed from cursed hammer, to Thor's Hammer, enchantment changed and basicly its a repair hammer that cant break, however due to the fact that Thor is so slow (alluded to by the smith he worked for) it may not break, but using Thor's Hammer to repair is VERY slow going.
