Post Real Life Rambles No. 2
:welcome: Since we have over 2000 posts if I read that right and I have to admit to being wrong I thought I would start a new thread on real life happenings on or off line. It is my computer. Mr. Ed got that fixed and without making me feel like the idiot I am. He reconfigured the speakers and they are working great. He set up my printer and microphone, Seagate backup. Cleaned up my Start Menu so it doesn't take ten minutes to load. Made some suggestions about video taking in game. Lower the resolution so the files aren't so gigantic. Downloaded some programs I need including Audacity. That I will need to check the settings but I have Mr. K to help. Cleaned up programs I didn't need. Was here about 2 1/2 hours and charged me $100.00 which isn't bad for a computer guru. Told me that in six months I should clean the computer using the nozzle attachment on the vacuum.

Lets see, I have you as an adopted Sister, Scythe, adopted grandson, Mark as adopted son. I think I will adopt him as a brother. As I said he did not make me feel like a dumb bunny which he easily could have. He didn't know about Steam so I did teach him a little something. Told him about the Elder Scrolls also. Oh, he has set Windows so that it will not automatically download, install and restart the computer when I am in the middle of a big dragon fight and winning. Which has happened.

I apologize for my prior ranting as it was uncalled for. Mayhap there is someone else I should apologize to that I will have to think about. It is a bit of a two way street I think.

Oh, Mr. Ed agrees with Giskard AVG is the best virus protection. I have avast right now and he said it was good. Mr Ed can also take care of a root virus if I ever get one again. I told him that he may take an occasional vacation but he may not die or move. As long as I am here.

Pitch dark outside bu the sun is shining brightly here. :PartyTime: :WOOT: :knight:

And I have spell check back.

Wonderful!!!!

Hmm. So, if Mr. Ed is your adopted brother and I am your adopted sister, does that mean he will come visit and tell me how to fix my mouse problems? hehe. :)

He might need the airfare. :) What is wrong with your mouse? I wish I was rich enough to get all my adopted relatives together so they could know each other. I think you would all like each other. I seem lucky lately to be surrounding myself with cool, sensible heads which I know I need. I am the only dynamite stick in the bunch.

Hmm. Please do be careful not to stand too close to someone who carries a sparkler. :)

I am going to knock on wood here, because I may have stumbled on the problem with my mouse and I don't want to hoodoo it now when it seems to be working. But, I think my old computer (it is rather old - still on XP) doesn't react well to programs developed primarily for computers using Win7. Specifically, the mouse I bought was the most basic I could find, but still carries all the bells and whistles the developers think people want. For instance, something called "Smart Point". I think that program tends to try and second guess what I want and therefore double clicks when I want just one click. Probably, there is something in Win7 that can adjust that tendency, but it certainly isn't present in XP. I finally found a way to turn that off and it has been behaving a bit better. (Knock on wood again.)

I had that problem when I haad XP. I got an intelligent mouse and it drove me crazy. It finally broke and when I went in to get a new one I said I wanted a mouse dumber than I am. The clerk laughed but got me one. If the mouse needs a disk to run it forget it. I stick to the basic mouse. I am having a little problem with my mouse but I think I need a new mouse pad. The mouse doesn't always run, move smoothly and sometimes is hard to move. I keep clicking on the wrong thing in Skyrim because of this.

I am more worried about standing next to someone with a match. :)

LOL.

I had that problem with my last mouse, too. It was an MS mouse that I thought would work better with an old machine. No such luck. When it started scrolling pages up and down so fast I couldn't read them and I couldn't stop it, I bought this one. It doesn't scroll so much but . . . well, I'm hoping I've got it working for awhile now. It was driving me crazy, too.

Speaking of mouses I think I need a new one. This one makes a noise sometimes when I move it. The microphone is very sensitive and picks up this noise. Maybe I need a new mouse pad. I should try that first it would be cheaper I think.

What kind of a mouse are you using?

I have a wireless laser mouse. Kept getting tangled up in those cords and the balls pick up cat hair too easily.

:) Gotta watch out for that cat hair. They put it there you know just to trip you up. I have a azar but it is not wireless. I seem to damage wireless very quickl. From time to time there is a crackling noise. Stuttering noise? Times when it doesn't seem to want to go where I want it to go.

I used to have that pertty often, usually when the wire to the mouse got old and brittle -and possibly ready to break. Don't know that for sure as I usually replaced the mouse when that started happening. Possibly, the wire is just bent, or even more likely, I got it entirely wrong and have no idea what is happening. :P
