Your son's camp sounds wonderful. Wish they had camps that taught something (other than how to make ceramic hands and painted bottles) when I was young.

I did discover when I was trying to learn some Japanese a few years ago that there are loads of wonderful, free forums that teach Japanese and Japanese writing. They aren't as good as face to face learning, but they could be helpful to keep the learning process going when he gets back - sort of like practice.

And, I am a fervent believer in driver training, especially for the young. It is good for them to learn good driving habits while they are still eager to hear them.

The camp does sound great.

The hot and humid weather plus thunderstorms with little rain has kept me off the computer. Having a couple of days respite from the humidity. People have been staying home, libraries have been designated cool spots and some of the malls.

Post Re: Real Life Rambles
Hi all, yesterday was an absolute gorgeous day, still warm but no humidity. The morning was in the 70's and so I did a much need shopping trip. There was not a single cloud in the sky. Getting to the little mall where the grocery is I sat outside for a bit and then decided to walk down the mall. My hairdresser is there and no appointment is needed so I decided to go in and have my hair done. I consider having my hair done a necessary luxury. It always feels and looks so nice. My regular hairdresser was at a meeting but I think the different hairdresser did an even better job.

I then had a snack sitting outside and went grocery shopping. The cats had no food and I had very little so I stocked up. I was hoping for New Jersey peaches but all the fruit was hard as rocks, very disappointing. Maybe next week it will be better. I spent about 3 hrs just enjoying myself and the gorgeous weather.

Today back to hot and humid. If July has been bad what will August be like?

Post Re: Real Life Rambles
Today i was having a great eye day could see pretty well. It was really nice. Then the door bell rang. It was the neighbor's nephew who is going to take care of my lawn, Workmen down here are lousy but my neighbor, Pat, is very nice and I figure if his newphew, Mark, doesn't do a good job I can Pat to get after him. :)

It is a bright sunny day but comfortably cool so I stepped out into the yard and forgot to put on my sunglasses. That killed that good eye day. :(

Oh well it was nice while it lasted.

Oh. Sorry about that.

My eyes are probably not nearly as bad as yours, but if I forget my sunglasses anytime I go outside, I have sight problems the rest of the day and evening, too. Sun seems to be very bright here since I didn't have this problem so much in California, just eye migraines on occasion.

It's been cooling off a bit here lately (down below 105 degrees, which is relatively cool). But, we are still praying for rain. Much of the valley has gotten some, but my yard is still crying with its tongue out. :)

It is the glare from the sun. Winter with snow is really bad for me. I have to wear dark sunglasses when I go out. :) We need more rain too. Have had some but enough. We are on an index for watering our lawns. One section of my lawn is beginning to look like a desert. :) or is it dessert, I get those two words mixed up.

I lay down in the afternoon to rest my eyes slept unil 1:30AM this morning. Feel great, eyes are good and I am ready to rock and roll. No one else is tho. :(

hehe. Welcome to the world of night owls. Around here, though, it is much nicer to go out after dark when it's cool. Unfortunately, they close all the stores and entertainment stuff.

Been having some nice storms last couple of days. Got some good, soaking rain last nite, early this morning. Yard really appreciates it. (Arid areas are usually desert. Good, sweet treats after dinner are dessert. Just so you can say, "Oh, yeah. I knew that.")

:D I remember the rains in Arizona and the beauty they brought. We had toads in the back as well as flowers and trees with leaves on them. It was a joy to behold.

Don't have many toads this summer. Don't know why. But, it's been a little dry since May. And, the rain we finally got was well received by everything in the yard, including a "mysterious" white rabbit that sits on my front lawn. (The guy who mows it and removes weeds found it somewhere and moves it to a different spot every time he comes by. It's called mysterious because he grins and claims he doesn't know where it came from.)

that is interesting. Aren't white rabbits usually domesticated? Not wild.
