Post resarch into broken aspects
i have researched into various missing, or damaged game peices though out the years...

Sutch... Castle Varalodo... and various other areas...

there are 2 magic effets that were destoryed, or partial destoryed... one being "darkness" and the other "locking"

i added both of these to game, locking works correctly... darkness... does not... darkness lacks any shaders, meshes, or settings...

just a page into resarch behind the scenes....

I'm sorry, I can not quite follow you.

You mean you added/re-enabled stuff that Beth has disabled in the engine?

Locking is not available, but can be used via the command-line to lock doors/ports/chests, etc.
But what on Earth is Darkness? Some sort of Chameleon/Invisibility? I have no idea. :oops:

the information into that spell was completly destroyed...

locking, had all of its effects, icons, and other affiliations still in tackt, just was not implimented....

and yes, it works the same way as the console command... depending on magnitudes of.... 0 25, 50, 75... but dont use 100.... that will permintily lock it, and will require a key (that does not exist in the game)

there may be other vaules, i used 50, and got... journeyman lv lock... i think.... 4 progns down... so thats probably higher..

still will be something intresting to look into :P

Actually you can simply unlock doors that are key-locked with the unlock-command. :mrgreen:

i think one of the reasons locking was removed, because the ai settings of regular oblivion can't handle locked items. Especially doors.

If you lock a door the ai of an npc won't accept the door being locked..if it's set to continue it's ai schedule it will either keep on trying to get through or even worse crash.

you can script them to use the door by adding a special key. Or give them the key in the inventory..but if you don't it will mostly crash.

The current ai just can't handle locked doors. So it's dangerous to use.

Normal locked doors can be worked around by giving them a key.. but if it's a spell.. they don't have the key at all.. :?

yep... making it impractical to have in the game...

as i figured and feared would be like that...

well.. we now have it if we ever find a usable perupase for it :P
