For those of you scurrying away to the Nexus to get you daily dose of TES-mods, just a warning:
The public servers are overcrowded at the moment and the download speed is way below par. So I skipped my DL's today.

seems will have to wait even a couple of days more. people who couldnt get their downloads yesterday are discharging all their fury now lol its 4:28 am at my country and i just checked more than 400 users in normal server.

yeah at the moment Nexus is a real pain in the behind...texas server is completely off and london server really sucks....ahhhhhhhhhhhh

Texus will be back soon, London server is going permanently offline soon. Dark0ne recently fixed the regular IPS errors everyone's been getting since before Christmas, and his ISP accidentally capped his throughput to 10mbit/s instead of 100. He's reported this to them and now he's either waiting for them to fix it, or they have fixed it very recently.

There need to be a boston server... not because I live near there but for europeans so they can have a closer server. I mainly use texas unless there are 400 people on it and only 100 in seattle

Distance doesn't really seem to make a difference. I think it's all a big online lie that using a server close to where you live will improve the connection. I live in England, and I find that the London, England server is always the slowest.

There are different factors affecting speed. With a closer server you would usually have less latency (the time it takes one byte of data to go from the server to your computer) but often a farther server might have more bandwidth (the number of bytes of data that are sent per second) so between the two factors and the other factors it all averages out somehow. Since latency is usually measured in the milisecond range because data gets transfered really really fast and we are often talking about megabytes worth of data, bandwidth is usually the limiting factor. I assume from Dark Nights mention of hosting being much more expensive in Europe that the london server was restricted to a smaller bandwidth making it slower.
